About Us

This is where it all began
I decided to open the doors of CRO Engineering Group on November 9, 2003 in Huntington Beach, California. I had one client, The Cheesecake Factory, and the company was run out of a small 800 square foot two bedroom apartment located in Downtown Huntington Beach. Those were some scary times. I have a copy of the very first check CRO received along with a photo of the 2 bedroom apartment in Huntington Beach framed and hanging on the wall in my office. I like to look up at this little piece of history from time to time, just to remind me of where I came from. It is also a daily reminder of what we are all capable of if one truly wants something bad enough and is willing to put in the time and effort required into achieving ones goals.

There have been a few bumps in the road that CRO has traveled down since those humble beginnings back in 2003; however, we are still going strong and growing every year.
By the way, The Cheesecake Factory is still one of our best clients.

I had one very specific vision in mind when I started CRO Engineering Group. I wanted to be the MEP consultant that clients could count on and trust. That may sound cliché, however, prior to starting CRO I had worked for far too many companies where clients were not given the level attention they deserved. It was not uncommon at some of these companies for client phone calls and emails to go unanswered for days at a time, or not at all. In the service industry we all must work and thrive in, I found this practice to be very foolish and just a little arrogant.

One of my requirements for any CRO employee is that they must respond to all emails and phone calls before they leave the office each and every day. Even if our response is simply to let our clients know that we received their email or voicemail and that we would address their requests or concerns the following work day.

I want all of our clients to know they are important to us. For without our clients, CRO would not exist.

My idea of integrity goes hand in hand with my vision for CRO Engineering Group. I want my clients to feel they can count on the CRO Team and trust that we will do want is right, all of the time. I like to tell my clients, friends and family, “I like to go to bed each night with a clear conscience”. There is a verse from an old John Mellencamp song that has always stuck with me, “An honest man’s pillow is his piece of mind”.

Let’s face it, everyone makes mistakes. The last time I tried to walk on water I failed miserably. In my opinion, what sets CRO apart from other MEP teams is how we handle the times when tough decisions need to be made. We do not point fingers in an attempt to deflect responsibility when issues arise. We simply step up and do the right thing. Every Team member at CRO is expected to follow this philosophy, 100%.

Again, this may sound cliché but we are only on this planet for a short time. It’s what we do with our time while we are here that sets us apart.
